Developing life skills is an integral part of the academic curriculum of Paavai Vidhyashram. Learning to cook with simple recipes equips a child with skills that they will use and benefit from for the rest of their lives. It also increases their knowledge of nutrition and motivates them to eat healthy foods.
As part of this endeavour, a 'Cooking Without Fire' contest was held on January 27th, 2012. The contest was organized in 2 categories.
Category I participants were the students of classes III to V. The food items to be prepared in this category were sandwiches.
Category II competition participants were the students of classes VI and VII. The food items to be prepared in this category were salads.
The competition in each category was organized on an inter-house basis between the Aryabhatta and Rohini houses. The children participated enthusiastically in this culinary contest and came up with some tasty and novel dishes.
Rohini house won the I prize in both the categories respectively.
